Twin Pines is the loving work of famed California architect Julia Morgan. Credited with some 800 buildings, among them Hearst Castle & countless Bay Area landmarks, her work on the shore of Lake Tahoe is a wonder of simplicity and craftsmanship. Twin Pines will be as she intended – a vibrant home to families savoring long, languid, carefree summer days and warm après ski gatherings around the fire. In her honor, we have preserved and protected this jewel along the lake.

180 feet of shoreline that leads to one of the longest, most pristine beaches in all of Lake Tahoe.

1936

Tethered just offshore, a wooden Chris Craft sparkles in morning light. Just up from the beach, a row of Adirondack chairs overlooks a wide lawn. Here sits a quaint cabin, wood smoke curls from its tall chimney through two tall pines. The year is 1936.

2023

The cabin’s welcoming hand-wrought doorknocker reads Twin Pines. The tidy interior is bathed in warm woods, the joinery flawless from the wide plank floorboards to the intricate cathedral ceiling. In the fireplace, a crackling fire takes the chill off the morning. Outside, across a wide lawn and even wider beach, a vintage Chris Craft sits on the lift. The year is 2023.

With a painstaking eye for detail and unparalleled craftsmanship, this simple but elegant beach house is vintage Tahoe. The knotty pine walls, doors, and floors have been carefully restored to bring out their patina, thus accentuating the handcrafted, wrought iron hardware throughout the home.

The joy of Twin Pines in winter is that you’ll never lift a finger, unless it’s to raise a warm beverage as you recount the day on the slopes. We’ll have all your gear at the lake, so you can step into warm ski boots and onto the lifts.
